REASONING/THINKING:
(Ideas, Content, Purpose)

I worked independently to generate ideas. 

I have 5 or more connected details.

COMMUNICATION:
(Clarity and form)


I use my senses (sight, touch, smell, sound, taste) to build up description of the nouns. 

I used juicy adjectives (ie. brilliant blue eyes) and adverbs (words ending in “ly”) to paint a picture in the reader’s mind.

I use like to compare things (ie. She is fast like a gust of wind)

I have a lot of energy/voice in my writing! You can tell that I care and I’m showing off my best effort.

My sentences start off in different ways

ORGANIZATION OF IDEAS:
(Logical plan, focus and connected ideas)

I have an introductory sentence and a closing sentence ending what is being described.

I used transition words like first, next, then, and last between my details. Sentence parts are linked with conjunctions (but, and, or).

APPLICATION OF LANGUAGE CONVENTIONS:
(Applies language conventions correctly)

I have applied "Our Proofreading Plan" to my writing.


TIPS AND TOOLS
Picture
Don't give the audience a skeleton...flesh out your ideas (Add skin, hair, teeth, etc.)
Use adjectives (words that describe persons, places, things//nouns)
Use similes (compare things using the words like or as)
Remember to try to paint a picture in your reader's mind! Imagine your reader is blind and has never encountered your topic before! Based on your descriptive writing, they should be able to draw a precise picture!
